Retaliation

The law prohibits employers from retaliating against employees for asserting their legal rights to minimum wages and/or overtime pay or complaining that their rights under federal or state discrimination laws (including laws prohibiting discrimination based on age, race, gender, pregnancy, national origin, disability, and religion) have been violated. The law also prohibits employers from retaliating against employees for refusing to participate in an illegal activity engaged in by the employer. Retaliation includes adverse employment actions such as termination, demotion, salary reduction, job reassignment, or harassment.
