Happy Labor Day and It’s Our Anniversary
Since its founding, Labor Day has honored the American workforce’s contributions to the United States and recognized the resilience of our nation’s working men and
For 17 years, Loren B. Donnell, has exclusively represented workers in class and collective actions seeking to recover hard earned, but unpaid, wages. She has represented restaurant workers, telecommunication and cable installers, cable line locators, retail employees, loan officers, emergency restoration workers, call center workers, and many others seeking to get paid their fair and due wages. Loren was among counsel representing over 67,000 female retail employees seeking damages due to unequal wages when compared to their male counterparts under the Equal Pay Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, which resulted in a settlement of approximately $175 million dollars and significant changes to the companies practices. Prior to joining SLG, Loren was a partner at Burr & Smith, LLP.
Loren believes in impact litigation. When we help ourselves recover unpaid wages or speak up to discriminatory practices at work, we help others who are similarly affected by the unlawful practices and can make important sweeping changes across the country or across industries. Loren enjoys working together with her clients to make changes that affect, not only their lives, but that of many others.
“The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.” Franklin D. Roosevelt.
A lifelong learner, Loren frequently writes and speaks on wage and hour topics. She is a regular presenter at American Bar Association conferences; is a Senior Editor to Wage and Hour Laws (Gregory K. McGillivary, ed.); and is past-President to the Florida Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association. She is also training for a half-marathon, learning guitar, and teaching her two children to be kind and thoughtful humans. She is looking forward to spending the next four years with her high school age son to volunteer and serve the community through Young Men’s Service League which supports Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Wreaths Across America, Miracle League, The Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House, among others.
