In today’s connected world, workers leave the office but don’t leave their work behind.

Bosses send e-mails asking about projects, and co-workers send text messages about work tasks.  Employees communicate outside of regular working hours about work via group messaging applications like WhatsApp and GroupMe.  Employees participate in conference calls before or after work, and get called by their co-workers on their days off.

However, many employees perform all of this extra work and are not paid for it.

Employees often think that these issues just come with the job.  However, the law is clear: companies must pay their workers for ALL time worked. This rule requires pay for all time spent performing tasks when you leave work.
